The Pocock Gallery

Justin Fox asks:

"Isn't the primary role of art to titilate and distract?"

Here's some of my own in reply. I call the stuff "art" for easy shorthand, but not seriously.

Oh Yeah, Baby!!

That's the money shot! Karate choppin' the mutha-luvin watermelon! That's what I'm talkin' about!!!

It's absolutely is art if it involves any kind of altar, tikki torches, or karate chopping (the watermelon can be replaced with any pulpy fruit of your own choice).

Boo-yaa!!!

Brah,

It's funny how I started doing the fruit judo-chop routine. One time, I was down with at gal at the 'clothing optional' Wreck Beach in Vancouver (one of my 'happy' places). It was all watermelon and no knife.

Well...as a man of action there was only one choice - Judo-Chop.

I've learned two things in my fruit chopping travels:

1) Never chop mango - it has a big pit inside. Ouch!

2) Be careful who you fruit-judo-chop in front of. For they will become your slaves. Wow!

It must tap into some weird "any man who can karate chop a watermelon can run a civilization" gene...
