Making the Rounds

Many thanks to Andrea Carson over at VOCA for pointing me to a nice article on why people collect art. One collector had a good line...

"Collecting is being there in the trenches every week," he says. "It's time-consuming but very gratifying when you go to hundreds of galleries and then finally, something stands out."

Only by seeing so many art shows - that your brain starts to melt - do you find the occasional artwork that stops you in your tracks. That's special.

I get the feeling that too many people decide they want some art for their home, go to a couple shows and find something that's the best of that small sample. It's gotta move ya baby!
