Threshold Experience

Came across a Johann Wolfgang von Goethe quote which I like.
The threshold is the place of expectation.
That's true for all of my new experiences. Interesting that sacred Japanese thresholds are guarded by demons. Only for the brave.

When you want to know something new, especially if its a "secret", the imagination magnifies it out of proportion, making it into something a lot bigger than it seems once you eventually find out.

Most people crawling along the highway called life fear and dread these sublime moments, because one must often be alone to discover anything worthwhile.

This should explain why Slipknot are so popular.

Interesting stuff, Anon.

The threshold for me at the moment is the blank canvas I keep throwing putting in front of me. It's like a portal to my future self - becoming more/different from what I was before in creating a new image.

The build up then release of expression I used to dread when writing is much easier now with the painting. Now it's something that really makes life a lot more enjoyable - especially when I don't worry about making mistakes.

It really is a rich, sublime moment. The great thing is that each person is responsible for their feeling in that decisive moment.

Personally I have a tendency to prefer the (metaphoric) blank canvas. One thing the act of creation shows me, is how nothing comes out quite the same way one imagines.

And although it's arguable that the completed work has form and reality, and, might even be better than the dream - due to friction and circumstance it still lacks that perfection(even if it's just the mind covering up the reality) of the inspiration.

But since I'm part schizo I also realise that dreaming and talking are naturally even more worthless than creating even bad art.

Having said THAT, I recently saw a Val Kilmer movie which should be eradicated from the face of the earth. Something about lions in Africa. I was able to tolerate this dirge by cheering for the lions.
